Steve Andrews is the 8 On Your Side Senior Investigative Reporter for Tampa Bay’s most recognized and honored I-team.  Steve’s work embodies the 8 On Your Side mission statement of “Giving a Voice to the Voiceless, Holding the Powerful Accountable and Viewer Advocacy.”

He started at WFLA-TV in 1985.

Steve’s reports on waste, corruption and fraud have resulted in the resignations of several public officials, closed phony charities, and sparked criminal investigations by law enforcement agencies, culminating in numerous arrests and convictions.

In recent years he took up the fight for Veterans’ rights.  His reports convinced Congress to expand benefits to tens of thousands of Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans.  Members of Congress also credit his work for helping to pass a federal law in 2019 that provides active duty military the right to hold government doctors accountable for negligence and malpractice.

Steve has won 11 Emmys as well as numerous investigative reporting awards from the Associated Press, and Society of Professional Journalists.  His reports on Florida’s failing foster care system won national investigative reporting awards from United Press International and the Investigative Reporters and Editors Association awarded Steve its highest honor, the IRE medal.

Steve is married and has 2 daughters.
